Steven Curtis Chapman's personal blog. Okay, I’m gonna say this right off the bat…I’m gonna fail at this blogging thing. I'm told this is to be Short-n-sweet entries that don’t try to go too deep or try to communitcate too much information. To which I say, “yeah, right!” You see, I don’t do “short-n-sweet”, “not too deep” is not a concept I grasp and “too much information” is my middle name. With all that said, I’m gonna attempt this business of blogging and see what happen.
What a HOOT... LOVE it! Sometimes as parents our kids talk and we don't pay the full attention we should due to being busy etc... from now on I will ;)
My fav SCC song is DIVE... it is played EVERY really every morning to start my day... and once before I head into work ;)

I spent the better part of my evening tweaking that video, separating the sound from the video, slowing it down, and had to download new software to lower the frequency. I can't believe the final result actually sounded like Steven - recounting Show Hope anniversary, birthdays, Candlelight processional, new SCC Taylor guitar, etc. For me the "tease" was doing that to someone who HAD to know what was being said! Cruel and unusual!

My nine year old came running, asking me to bookmark whatever it was I was watching (he was supposed to be doing his homework). My 6 year old thought something was wrong with the computer. Me, I just laughed. Thanks for that! :)

SOOOOOO Great to hear from you again. Now I havent commented on this blog yet but I know that now is the time. I just wanted to say THANKS........ Thank you for hearing the call and being faithful all of these years. I am a 30 year old Youth pastor who has been blessed for the past 20 years with your music. God has used you as an instrument in my life and through your music directly the spirit has led my life. There has been no greater blessing in my life than to listen to your music as it leads me each and every time back to him and for that I am ever greatful. I thank God everyday for you and your family and I pray that as you continue to serve him he will bless you beyond your wildest imagination.
God Bless,
Jason.

Wow..sounds like you all have been veeeeeery busy. No wonder your last blog was in August. Ha! Ha! You all give so much to so many. Thank you for being an example of everyday people doing everyday things and extraordinary things as well. God is so amazing.

oh my goodness. Why have I never seen that your family has a blog before? My name is Kait and I was RAISED on your music Steven :] My mother has always been big fan and now My sister and I call you are "favorite", both for the same reason: because you inspire us with your "realness" and your character.
Actually, I know you probably get a lot of random questions from fans... but If there was anyone in the world who's advice would be invaluableto my sister it would be you and your family's!
I was wondering how/ and if one should get into the recording biz.
You see, I believe God has given my little sister both musical talent and relevant messages for my generation. She's been writing music since she was 15 (she has dozens of songs stashed away. Some we sing at my church now as worship songs though she tries to hide that she wrote them!) but with no formal training until recently and that is just at a Jr. college working toward an AA degree. My father is a Pastor at a small church, so my parents have never been able to afford more than a little tutorage.
Recently she and a friend and I made a music video with a home camera, and I was blown away by how it affected people on You tube. She feels called to minister with music but doesn't know how God would have her do it.
NOW I also realize I'm a big sister :] SO I was wondering if you would give your HONEST opinion along with suggestions? here is her video --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arYB-roFw9U
and sorry, that turned into a novel, not a comment!
God Bless,
Kaitlyn

Saw you incredibly talented sons last night in OKC at Crossroads church with Casting Crowns!! OH MY GOSH you and Mary Beth must be so proud. Their talents are many and hearts are pure. Caleb's voice is smooth and Will's beat is energizing. They have a desire to serve God and it shows. Thank you for passing on your love of Christ and love of music to them!!!!!

Not related at all but didn't know how else to get this to you. Found a blog by an amazing young woman - barely 21, grew up in TN, living in Uganda, momma to 19 (!) children, feeds, bathes and provides schooling and medical care to hundreds more. AMAZING story. Thought you would appreciate this post. (mentions you) http://kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com/2009/01/oh-today-was-supply-day.html Scroll to the last paragraph. I wonder, when you wrote that song, if you imagined it would touch lives in that way. :-)

SC2,
Maybe you missed your true calling...comedy.That was jsut what I needed. I remember a rainy night in Tampa,Fl my baby girl (3mos.)just had open heart surgery for the 2nd time. And my wife and I were getting a bite to eat at ARBYs(americas roast beef, yes sir)and we passed a Family Christian Bookstore. Speechless was just out and I so much wanted to get it. So we stopped and upon listeningto it a song touched me so profoundly(With Hope). The story behind it in particular. You see my friends didn't know how to approach me about my little girl. I was alone. I needed to be strong for my family. My only outlet was music. I was allready a big fan.Signs of Life get my nod as the Best Album of ALL TIME...And I would allways listen to it as I would try to get to sleep. Not that your music put me to sleep or anything. It just allways help me put into perspective LIFE.
Thank You,
Paul MIlks (orlando, fl)

HA! Thanks for the laugh! This is my first time on your website. Don't ask me why...we've been in this adoption journey for over 3 years and counting. And, I think my steam is beginning to run out and needed some encouragement...so I found myself thinking of someone who has overcome so much because of their continued faith in God. And your name came to mind. We have hit rut after rut in our adoption journey...but we know God has a great plan for our family. Thanks for being an example to live by. I hold on to Jesus every day cause I know I couldn't keep on this journey without him. When we think we getting closer to our journey being done...it's another obsticle. Anyway, thank you.
