We've Moved Our Blog and Changed Our Name!

The new Show Hope blog is here!!! Visit blog.showhope.org

As this ministry has grown beyond anything that the Board of Directors, our founders the Chapmans, or the staff had imagined, we have taken on new and exciting opportunities to care for orphans, going beyond our original mandate of giving financial grants to provide families for waiting children.

To reflect the increased scope of this work, we have changed our name from Shaohannah's Hope to Show Hope! We believe this name echoes the heart of our organization, its founders, and its staff as it is a call to take the hope that we have, both for this life and the next, and actively demonstrate it in our lives through caring for the least of the least.

In view of God's great mercy in adopting us as His children, may we do all that we can to reveal His love to those in need of hope, love, and families.

Come visit our site and our blog and find out what's going on in this exciting movement to care for orphans!

Show Hope Asia 2008 - Trip Update!

Fourteen young ladies ranging in ages from 14-26 have embarked upon a crazy adventure, taking them half way around the world to "show hope" to orphans in Asia.  On June 21st, the Show Hope Asia 2008 team met for the first time at the Chicago airport in preparation for a long journey across the Pacific.  Although these fourteen young ladies had just met, it was only a few minutes
into a pizza dinner and brief introductions that the ladies were discussing a future team reunion.  An amazing team unity began developing only after moments of knowing one another!

The team arrived in China after a fourteen hour flight, unsure of what to expect, but full of anticipation.  Our hosts and coordinators in China welcomed the team with a nice dinner, and they shared a brief educational introduction regarding their organization that exists to care for special needs orphans.  Each morning, our team has been waking up early to love the children at this home.  The ladies spend their time going from room to room, playing with young toddlers or cuddling babies in the isolation unit, who are awaiting needed surgeries.   They have even met some of the children who have benefited from the MacKenzie Fund, a fund established through Shaohannah's Hope that helps subsidize individual medical needs.

In addition, the Show Hope Asia 2008 team had the great privilege last week of interacting with blind children at a small organization just outside the city.  Although most of the team was a little hesitant and unsure of how to interact or relate to children who cannot see, their fears were instantly put to rest upon meeting them.

Immediately the children invited the ladies to listen to them sing.  They were touched by how joyous each child was despite their disabilities. After hamburgers, French fries, and a coke for lunch . . . water fight!!! Time flew by as our team had a blast playing with water balloons and water guns.  On Thursday of last week, our team visited the orphanage for blind children again.  The group broke up into smaller groups and took the children outside to play.  One of the activities the children participated in was climbing a rock wall. The Show Hope team was amazed to watch visually impaired orphans climb their way to the top of the wall with much determination and persistence to complete every activity.

The orphanage for the blind children exists to be family oriented.  The children are  self-sufficient and are truly encouraged to explore and use the gifts and talents they each possess. The directors of this particular organization encourage each child to tackle every obstacle and they really believe and instill in the kids the idea of dreaming big. Their constant smiles and the way they embraced each one of the team members showed the love in their hearts. The ladies had a hard time leaving, but they walked away feeling so blessed to meet such precious children.

The team is currently in central China, visiting the sight of the new Shaohannah's Hope Healing Home.  They have continued to bond together in their adventure to love and "show hope" to special needs orphans of China.  Their hearts are being captivated and changed by the faces of the forgotten. We are excited for them to each return safely home and begin sharing stories with their own communities about the hidden treasures they have each discovered while in China.

SCC and Phill Dive In

The last night of a tour is always full of surprises and excitement, and often a "prank" or two pop up.  The good people of Macon GA had a very special treat when Shaohannah's Hope's own Phill Lyndon jumped on stage for the last song, "Dive", rocking the Guitar Hero in style.

But SCC had the last laugh, as Phill was a little unprepared for the impromptu vocal solo.  It was a lot of fun, hope you enjoy it!

Macon Making Change for Orphans

Img_5255The final day of the Spring tour.  What a way to go out!  Macon, you rocked our faces off, and together raised over $6,000 to help put orphans in families!  That's right you'll help this family take in a waiting child, and you'll help another family as well.  Thanks for really helping to change an orphan's world.  We had a fun night, thanks for putting up with our "requests" during the requests section (don't you wish SCC had at least tried some of those songs, like "Friends", "I Can Only Imagine", or "Ice Ice Baby"?), and we were so blessed to be able to end our tour with you awesome people.  Show Hope!

Speaking of showing hope, here you are, doing that very thing:

Rockin with Hope in Rock Hill

Img_5209Well, second to last show, and you guys really blew the roof off. What a solid group, and we had a lot of fun, didn't we?  Sure there were torrential downpours, but that didn't stop you, and out you came to have fun, but also to show hope to orphans.  Thank you so much for your generosity and for being a picture of God's provision.  You helped to place a waiting orphan in a loving family, and together raised over $5,000!  Thanks to all who participated!

And here you rockstars are, showing hope:

Wabash Says, "Why Not Show Hope?"

Img_4628 Well, thank you Wabash for coming out and showing hope.  It was a beautiful venue, wasn't it?  And the awesome part was how you guys came together and raised over $2,400 to show hope to an orphan.  A local anonymous gentleman also stepped up to donate the amount needed to bring that total to $4,000, so thank you to all involved!  We had such a great night, and we pray God will bless you for the blessing you have been.

And while I've got you here, check out these pics of you showing hope:

Looks like a little flurry, that's all.  That won't stop me from making it to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert!  And out you came, and not only that, you came and showed hope to a waiting orphan, and together raised over $2,000.  Way to be, thanks for your example of God's love.
