A star-studded cast is teaming up with the Nashville Symphony to present the classic musical, Cinderella, to help advance Show Hope’s mission of caring for orphans in distress. It will be a “one night only” concert performance without scenery but with colorful costumes, a flourish of makeup, a bit of dancing, and a good measure of magic. Cinderella has the same title as Steven Curtis Chapman’s hit song inspired by his daughter, Maria, who passed away in May of 2008. The Chapmans saw this as the perfect way to commemorate her life and celebrate the mission of Show Hope.

Cinderella without scenery?
Posted by: Jenny | April 02, 2010 at 08:42 AM
I pray for you and your family and what you have gone through. Some times it is diffcult to understand God's plan when he takes a love one before we finished loving them here on earth. God's plan was for Show Hope to started to care for all of his little special needs angels. I know Maria is in heaven watching this great event occur and know that her mom and dad or doing a great service for God. Cinderella is one of my favorite songs. It is a song that I have put in a box labeled ideas for my daughters wedding. I saw Steven in a very touching concert in Texas where he shared his hurt and pain with us in the audience. You have a very special family and God has a lot of his work left for you and Steven to do.
Hopefully this very special one night will be available on video for those of us to watch and help raise money for Maria's memory to help with Show Hope.
The love that we get from our children is what makes us get up every morning and breathe in and out and make it through another day. You see we have 3 very special children that were a blessing from God and each was adopted.
May Grace bless you each day and the pain of remembering your sweet Maria be replaced with knowing that she is holding Gods hand and watching you and the work that you are doing she is dancing with Jesus now.

So glad you got away to write your book. Saw your pics on my friend Kristin's blog. That was so sweet of you and SCC to take the time to meet their family at the park. What fun! Wish I'd known you were in the area ... but I know that you would have then been SWAMPED with people wanting to meet you.

I'd happily sit in the nosebleed seats to attend this event. One those times were Alaska seems so far away from the rest of the U.S.

Dear Mary Beth,
On February 1st of this year my best friend was out jogging with her 2 year old son in the jogging stroller. She approached an intersection and when the light turned green she crossed. Somehow the semi truck stopped at the light did not see them and proceeded to make a right turn and struck them. Her son, Dylan was pulled under the truck and killed instantly. She saw everything. I was one of the first people she called, my husband is also their pastor, and we rushed to the scene. We have been walking this journey with them. I am doing what I can to help her spiritually through this. I have often thought of the tragedy your family has been faced with. Your blogs have been a great encouragement to me and I am going to share them with her. She is struggling with the same emotions you share. She loves the Lord and does not want this to take away her faith and yet she has lost her precious baby. I don't know if you do this or would want to but there are few people who have faced a tragedy like this. It is different from loosing your child through an illness. She feels that she caused this accident, that this all could have been prevented. Would you have any words for her? I look forward to your book, I know this road is not easy but you exibit great honesty and grace and I see the Lord at work in you and your family.
Thank you even for considering this,
Heather

Mary Beth,
Thanks for the update. I received the update the other day from the Gospel Music Channel. I am so excited about this grande event, and would love to afford to go. But, please know that I will have this wonderous event wrapped up in my prayers, and that I will attend the first year I am able to go.
I am so glad to know that you have received much needed grief counseling. That's just like a mom to put herself on the back burner while her kids get all they need. I am praying that you have much success with this, and am praying for God to give you words to write so that more lives can be touched through your book [as you have already touched us through your blog].
Prayers for you and yours that all you need will be given,
Michele

MB,
Never need to apologize. Your priorities are where they should be, where HE wants them to be. We remain grateful to SEE him through you and your family everyday whether you update your blog or not. Not a day goes by that I'm not thankful, thoughtful, and humbled by your words and deeds. Can't wait for the book. Please hug all your bug a boos, and even the big ones for me. You have inspired my efforts as a mom and a person. Blessed be the name.

Oh, how I wish I could attend this event with my daughter. She LOVES Cinderella simply because of Steven's song (known in our house as "Sarah and Daddy's Song"). She would be enthralled to see this production.
We are and will be praying for you all.
