A Few Of My Favorite Things!

A_few_of_my_favorite_thingsOK, getting creative here in the world of blog!  I am frantically trying to clean my office up  so that I don't feel so out of sorts heading into our big Shaohannah's Hope Weekend!  As I was sorting and putting away "months" of stuff, I figured it appropriate to show you what I am loving currently.  OK, 1) My family....that cool black and white photo will be our Christmas Card this year....For those of you who know about my funny ones....sorry, I just don't have it in me this time.  Maybe we should do a back log blog of old cards!  2) My husband....nice picture huh?  Taken at one of my Best Friends daughters wedding where, yup you guessed it... Cinderella was sung as the father daughter dance...by none other than...SCC!  Cue the tears!  3)  My sweet Emily was in that wedding and it was the first time she had heard the song Cinderella...Thanks for the inspiration Em....Can't wait to have you home and settled in your apartment! (did I say Apartment?..where did all that time go?) 4)  To get me through the cleaning process...Coffee (In a beautiful K-Love coffee mug I might add)...Thanks K-Love for giving SCC some love....and me, cuz I'm drinking some awesome caffeine right out of that blue chipped coffee mug! The chip proves this was NOT a staged photo...I actually use this mug every car pool day!  And...Where would I be without Diet Pepsi?  I may not remember my family in my later years of life because of the artificial sweeteners I'm ingesting, but Diet Pepsi (with caffeine) is my companion on most days in and out of the office!  5)  Last but certainly not least...my favorite CD's, and should be yours too!!!  Steven's "This Moment" CD is absolutely GREAT!  I would say that even if he wasn't my best friend, husband, lover, partner, father of my children...  I PROMISE :) !  Your gonna love it! If you don't have it... get it!  AND.... it makes great Thanksgiving, Birthday, Wedding, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Anniversary, Easter, Valentines Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Day, George Washington Day, CHRISTMAS, and most certainly...JIM HOUSER appreciation day gifts!!!!  By the way...I declared Nov. 13th, 2007 Jim Houser Appreciation Day...You have to go to his blog...take five of your friends and give him a shout out.  We have a bet on how many people will comment.  You want me to win, right?  The second CD....  The special, limited edition of "This Moment"... It's awesome as well...You really need both, but this one has it all plus  some acoustic performances...A must for the serious collector!  The third CD, which is really an EP...THE FOLLOWING is a band that  I am  kind of partial too.  Maybe because my boys are part of it...If you have or know of a child or teenager (not that teenagers aren't children)..., this is the EP for them.  It can only be purchased at www.myspace.com/thefollowing    The guys in the band, well...I can vouch for them...Great guys, love the Lord, and long to follow His plan for their lives.  I think Caleb and Will Franklin have a bright future ahead...I love those boys!  OK....This turned into a novel.  Sorry, Enjoy the picture, and I'll talk to you all later!

oh... and one more comment... I was working at the Mercy Me concert at my church a few weekends ago... and a couple teenage boys were working too... I asked them if they liked Steven Curtis Chapman... and they said, "Yeah... but my parents really like him a lot." I just remember Steven saying how that makes him feel so old.

i have seen only one of your "cute", "funny" cards... with the little girls... "jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells, wok." did I get that right?

This Moment is, without a doubt, Steven's best work yet! I will be giving out copies to my friends and family for all those special occasions. Hey! I just celebrated "See SCC Live in NC" Day by giving a friend a CD!

I just got home from flying 900 miles to hear him (and the boys!) in North Carolina. As usual, it was fabulous! I hope all of you will have some quiet, restful moments now over the holidays. Thank you so much for sharing your family with us.

Ooohhh, it's the EP! So cool to get to see it. 'Specially since after months and months (and months and... you get the idea) of pretty much living on the songs that the boys put up on the Myspace, I finally managed to send off for the EP (which I can't wait to get). I sent in for it a bit too late to get it in time for the This Moment concert I was able to go to last weekend (sixth row, too!!), but that was okay. Because Caleb was really awesome and gave me his autograph, as well as getting Will to give me his. Now to get Dale and DJ's and I'll have the whole group!

And now I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for the special This Moment CD, too. I had pre-ordered the regular CD and now have pretty much all of the songs memorized, because they're absolutely AMAZING. (Something Crazy is SO much fun to sing and listen to, hee) Thank you for having those three amazing guys who make such amazing, awesome music, Mary Beth!

I have really enjoyed this websight, thanks for all of the personal touches. I also loved seeing the whole family at the recent Nov. 16th 2007 concert in Nashville. Steven Curtis Chapman's music is so special to us and we have been fans for nearly 15 years. We just get so much joy and even revelation through his lyrics and wonderful tallent. My whole family loved it. Our dream even came true as my two children ages 5 and 7 actually got to go up on stage with Steven Curtis Chapman and he even knelt down near my son. This has been an amaszing joy for us. We are so thankful for that moment! My only wish is that I had a photo of it! I didn't have a camera with me that night. I tried to send an e-mail to another scc

I'm wondering if there were any photos that night of the people with their posters on stage and if there is a way to get one if so.

i hope tonight went well. ;o)

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba...The joy of Pepsi (or is it Britney? ;P) yeah.

*big huggles*

Cheers

AMEN FOR DIET PEPSI!!! it's brought me through a lot!
I too am LOVING This Moment! It's pretty much been on nonstop repeat on my iPod since I got it (the day it came out)

Hi Mrs. Chapman!! Just a note to tell you that we leave to get the babies this sunday!! We hope that everything goes well this weekend and we are so sorry we had to miss it. Looking forward to seeing you guys next year!! We will be posting pictures on our blogs from Ethiopia!

I just want to thank you and your husband for sharing your love of orphans. I volunteered at the Show Hope both at two shows and it just renewed my desire to go back to China and spend more time sharing God's love with the orphans as well as the people who take care of them. Thank you for sharing this with the world. May you continue to make a change for orphans. God bless!

My favorite is Diet Dr. Pepper...at least it's from the same Pepsi family! :)

Take Care and post those Christmas cards please!

i was blessed at your husband's concert i went to last night. he does such an amazing job performing and i need to thank him someday in person. i have to tell you i saw this one photo of you and i honestly thought it was my mother, you in this one picture look exactly like my mom...no exaggeration...ok maybe a little.ha! I would love to meet your daughter someday, she is such an amazing young woman, i got to meet your oldest son, i was sad to find out he's taken, even though i am too old for him anyway. he was so very nice and sweet down to earth! God has truly blessed you with an amazing family!

MaryBeth, Thank you for sharing your family with us. We saw the guys in Portland and we all loved the show. My 4 kids loved it, even the 4 & 3 yr olds (from China). I'm asking anyone and everyone to pray for our family---we are awaiting approval from the CCAA to adopt our sons friend (age 3), but the CCAA has changed all their rules and are not inclined to approve us now with my husbands cancer history. We have to try though, she is waiting and we are willing so anyone reading this pray for a miracle!

I noticed there is one more favorite item in that photo... the iMac! Thanks for keeping a blog and sharing a part of your lives. Back in 2003, we got to hear your story in person at the If You Were Mine conference. After hesitating for years, we agreed that day to begin our adoption road to China knowing that this was indeed God's heart and an equal and wonderful path to parenthood. Our LeighAnna is a delight to the Lord and to us. My husband Steve said to me one day, as new-sleep-deprived parents, "I can't believe we almost missed this." Thanks for encouraging us to get started on this wonderful journey that has taught us so much about the Father who adopted us!

Great post!
Love it when you share scenes from around the house
Saw the gang in Lancaster last night! They had a great show! Thanks to Will and Caleb for taking a moment to post for pictures with my daughter!

LOVE this blog post! Thank you for sharing it! I also love the photos. By the way, when our youngest daughter saw your unopeed SCC cd's set neatly up there on the counter, she said, "Mom, that is so you!" because I always buy extra copies to put into my SCC stash. I keep some and give some away for gifts. I've always got extra SCC cd's lying around still shrink-wrapped and in mint condition. There is no gift I love to give more!

I must vote in favor of you posting previous Christmas cards. As you know, I have a VAST Chapman photo collection and some of my all-time favorites are Chrsitmas photos, though I certainly don't have copies of all of your Christmas cards. If the ones I'm missing are anything like the "Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Wok" card, then I definitely want to see them. Muey creative and mad funny!

i Love the following!
got there cd a few months ago and have been listening to it nonstop. those 3 songs never get old :D

Love the blog! What you have to say can never be too long! :-) I already have "This Moment" and will DEFINITELY have to get The Following CD, too. My teenaged daughters love the Chapman boys and my oldest (17)will meet both of them tomorrow night in Pittsburgh at meet and greet! She can't wait! And I can't wait to meet SCC! Yay! I'll be posting pictures, so be sure to click on my name below to have a look by Friday or so! God Bless!

Mrs C. Loved the BLOG! I'm a Diet Coke girl myself...

LOVE IT!! I TOTALLY appreciate your appreciation for coffee!!I carry my mug around all morning while I'm hustling my troops for the day.
Thanks for sharing with us. The pictures are beautiful.
I love the new CD, I have both editions. I am also buying a bunch for Christmas gifts this year, because I believe EVERYONE should have this CD. It is such a blessing, such a gift. What a ministry you all have!!!!

I shouted for Jim!! I hope you win!!!!

Novel?? ...chyeah, I'd say!!!!! Well, you know I love ya...but, I must admit I DID crack up while reading. I'd say maybe ol' SCC's writing/blogging technique MAY be rubbing off on you--only the longness of them...cuz' you're still way more consistant :)...and, still remain the 'blog queen'!!!
That was cute! Thanks! ...and, now might I presume that your desk is spic and span???? I'll be by to check--you can count on it! hah!

Not to long at all! I love hearing about the woman and family behind the man who has inspired me for years! Your blogs are great!! Keep them coming. The new album is wonderful...bought the CD...now it is on my IPOD. Just the words I needed at this time in my life.

Hey Mary beth! I don't know if you remember me from FBC Raytown (Tatumns' mommy, who is from the CWI as Stevey Joy) or not but I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog! I was so excited for Shaoey's gymnastic meet, and the girls looked darling for the Fall Celebration! Your family photo is beautiful! And thanks for the reminder that I need to get a gift for George Washinton Day......so now with the new SCC Cd in hand I feel fully prepared to celebrate George Washinton Day! That was a close one......
You can check out our "blog" at www.journeytome.com Adoption Stories/Tatumn Hope
I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Stephanie Crawford, Tatumn's mommy

Hi Mary Beth, As a Mom to 6 (4 daughter from China........yes I got My Moe) I can appreciate a good family photo when I see one. I also want to thank you and SCC for introducing me to Langfang Children Village thru your interveiws and SCC concerts. It is there where we first laid eyes on a little girl we latter began to sponsor. I don't know what lays ahead for her in her lifetime but hope I can always be a part of it.

Great post, Mary Beth! I loved reading about your favorite things. Your family's heart for Jesus is one of my favorite things! And definitely show us some old Christmas cards -- I hear they are quite entertaining.

God Bless!
