Where will you be November 3rd at 10p ET / 9p CT / 8p MT / 7p PT ?
You need to be http://www.facebook.com/stevencurtischapman. Live web video chat from Steven's home studio The Laundry Room. Don't miss it.
In preparation for said chat... how about posting some questions for Steven here in the comments? Please also post that night.
(And, sometimes prior to a video feed starting, there is a need for testing. So hey... if you slip in a question or two for the manager, we might test the feed prior to start time by answering one or two of those too.)
My question for SCC- although I know time away from family is hard, when can we expect a tour, more specifically, the Detroit Metro area?? Meadowbrook outdoor theatre would be great for you!!! Also, will be in Disney when SCC is narrator, can't wait!! Hope I get to meet the family!! Have been lucky enough to do SCC meet and greets (long talk re:my niece was a Thunderbird, if this jars your memory bank...) hope to have a meet and greet with MBC and gang!!

What was the inspiration/story behind "Waiting for Lightning"? I have been convinced that Steven wrote it for me, even though we've never met :-) It's my favorite of all time.
Thanks!

Steven,
Hello! Which song off of your new album was written first?
Do you have a favorite off the album?
Also, did MaryBeth help you with any of the heartfelt lyrics?
We love you guys & continue to keep your family in our prayers...

I think fans have been wondering for a long time if the SCC albums released in 2003 (All About Love), 2004 (All Things New) and 2005 (All I Really Want For Christmas) were all intentionally named with the word "ALL" at the beginning of the title. Coincidence or conspiracy?

I wonder if any more acoustic evening concerts are in the planning process. The Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area would be a great place to start. (Ok, you don't have to Start here but PLEASE include us)
What do ya say, Mr. Manager?

I wonder what you and MaryBeth do to stay close through all of the touring, time away from each other, etc. How did you make time for each other with all of the kids? We find it so hard to find time to really be in the moment with each other after his long day at work and my long day with 3 kids under the age of 4. Suggestions more for tight budgets are greatly appreciated. :-)
What is your absolute favorite song that you've recorded? Who is YOUR favorite Christian artist? What is your favorite song of all time?
Thanks!!!!

Hi. Maybe you've already answered this before - but what are all the bracelets you wear? I am guessing each one has a different significance. Can you tell us about that?
Thanks!

what is the meaning behind your "favorite" shirt.......seems you wear your plaid one often? I know it's a deep question! :-)

Hi Jim!
Great thinking looking ahead like this!
Looking forward to the chat! It was so fun to hear
SCC talking on the radio interview recently!
* I wonder...what makes SCC really laugh?
I'm sure the kids...and MaryBeth, can really make him laugh
because it's easy to tell they are all such a bright & creative
family!
Just wonder if there are "specific" sorts of things?
* I also wonder if he can let us know what "role" humor and
laughter have played throughout his life?
(not to mention such painful times as this last 1 1/2 yr!)
Thanks so much for all you share w/us!
Hugs to you & your family!

I have been trying obtain permission to use just the chorus to "Burn the Ships in a book I have written called The Fragrance of His Grace. I've gone to ASCAP, EMIBMG, Music Services and Sparrow Records. Can you help me?

I'm excited about the upcoming chat, thankful for the opportunity to preview the new record before the official release, and BLOWN AWAY by the beauty, honesty, and hopefulness in the new songs. "February 20th" profoundly moved me.
Question for Jim: Will there be a tour for "Beauty Will Rise" and, if yes, can you release an estimated start date and length?
Question for Steven: What was the last song that played on your iPod/iPhone?
Thank you!

What advice would you give for songwriters who can't sing? :) I have a whole bunch of songs that people have said are good, but I don't play an instrument, and I can't sing. I have sung them in my mind, but I can't find anyone who will put my lyrics to music. How do I "break" into someone listening to them and being able to put music to them? Is there someplace I can send them too?
Also, how do I get a Christian copyright to songs?

My Q's for SCC:
1. What is one song of yours from the past has become something of a renewed meaning in your life? One that you sing now and either means so much more to you now than when you wrote it or that has a different meaning, that makes it special to this different season of your life.
2. As someone who God has given a heart and love for China and the people, I want to know, what is your favorite thing about the country?
My Q for Jim and SCC:
When is Steven going to grace Liberty/Lynchburg,VA with his presence?!?
Posted by: Ragan | October 31, 2009 at 11:53 AM
When are we going to hear this country song "potty and a pancake"??? It is a MUST-WRITE/RECORD! next SCC album, if it's not at least a bonus track, i'm gonna be sad! :)

Steven,
If you created a playlist for itunes what would be the first few songs on it?
Prayers for all of the team.
Jim,
same question ;)

Steven.......
Question: What songs that you have written in the past have a different meaning (then vs. today) to you as you mature in your Christian walk/as a husband/and as a Father......?
FYI - My family met you a David T towards the end of the mostly accustic tour and shared with you'all (after the show) about our adoptions fall troughs and current situation with a mothers drub abuse. Well, the Lord had my family in His hands during it all. We did not end of getting that child, but in July 2008 another child came into our world and we were blessed with a new baby girl. Thanks for praying with us and encouraging us during our time of grief (5+ years attempting to adopt).
I would love to take you and David T out for breakfast, lunch or dinner when you are in town (Nov 20th) for the women of faith event. If I could be any assistance with any day of the events needs (load in/load out...) to help the team :-), just let me know.

QUESTION ABOUT THE EVENT: DOES ONE HAVE TO BE A FACEBOOK MEMBER TO WATCH THE LIVESTREAM? If so I will need to sign up for facebook. Please let us know!
Question for Steven: What prayer can you say God has most clearly answered for your family in the wake of Maria's death? What would you most like us to still be praying for you all?
Posted by: Karen B. | November 03, 2009 at 08:33 AM
Hi Karen - you shouldn't have to be a member on Facebook in order to watch the livestream. If the link that Jim gave above doesn't work, try this one - http://ow.ly/yGoR.
Of course, you can always sign up for Facebook as well as it's a great place to get updates on all your favorite artists. You know... like SCC! :-)
Hope that helps!

Jenny, thanks so much for the reply. I'm glad to know I can watch tonight without being on facebook.
I would enjoy being on facebook, I'm sure! But given some of the security issues related to my life and ministry in a Muslim area of Africa, the team I work with has a policy discouraging us from being active on facebook and other social networking sites.

Steven,
What is your favorite meal that Mary Beth cooks for you at home?
What was your favorite "hymn" growing up in church?
Who is your favorite contemporary role model in life?
Jim,
What determines the cities for the tours?
During an ongoing tour, if Steven were asked to speak or sing at an unscheduled venue(for instance a local youth group meeting), would he have autonomy to accept if it didn't interfere with the tour?
Who is your greatest contemporary role model in life?

This question is for both Jim and Steven I suppose: Jim showed a picture on his blog last July of SCC singing songs he wrote shortly after Maria's death. I am curious if those songs are included on the album and if so, which songs are they?
Posted by: Becky | November 03, 2009 at 12:18 PM
SCC,
I have been a fan for who knows how long! Which of all your albums has been your favorite?
Posted by: Andrew | November 03, 2009 at 03:11 PM
SCC,
Was writing/recording this new album a huge healing process for you? Did it help to express thoughts and cry to the Lord in this way?
Caleb and Will are starting to do a lot on their own, coming out with some music- do you think we'll see some songs about Maria from them? ..They sure have come a long way from the Veggietales days! It's so exciting to see them working/performing side by side!
I have heard you will be on Larry King Live again later this month. Do you and Larry talk often? He seems so hungry to know about what the Lord has done for you, and how He's walking with you and your family through this journey. I think it is awesome that your story is touching him and his audience!
Love and blessings to you!
