Posted here a few times that Steven was in the voting for Beliefnet.com's most inspiring person of 2008. The outcome is that we give our sincere congratulations to the family and friends of Randy Pausch for this well deserved honor. Though I don't know the Pausch family, Randy's words have moved millions, and we have a bond in the fellowship of the suffering.
Met with Steven for several hours yesterday. Pray for our guy. So much on his plate. And as I expect of him, as you might think and hope about him... he is a Godly man. He is struggling and praying to know what the right next thing is. Not wanting to go too fast or too slow, not wanting to do it for me... and even you or for... but as God is directing him. What is right for his family, for his ministry... and I would add, I'm wanting what is right for his soul. In the next week or so, he should have some decisions made and some direction for the years ahead.
Speaking of prayer, I feel odd about how to handle this on my blog. Where is the line? Is this blog solely about Steven? Steven and his family? Steven and his family and staff? Steven and his family and staff and fans I've personally know for more than 5 years? Please excuse the fog I'm in, the grey area of knowing what to do.
Amy4Him is how I've know her for 7 years or so, one of the most devoted Steven friends/fans. I met Amy through that login name and her posts on Steven's board many years ago, and then eventually in person. She's a delight, and I hope she wouldn't mind me saying, she met and married her husband through Steven too. : ) In the Chapman camp, we smile about that sort of thing. She's prayed and encouraged and cheered him on... and she's given me encouragement too. In all the years I've know her, she's never asked me or Steven for anything. Amy shared with me late last night that her week old son Ethan is headed into open heart surgery early Friday morning. His chances to survive, medically speaking are 7%. Friends of SCC (and Amy's) from the old message boards have formed a 12 hour prayer vigil and I'm joining them... because I believe the key phrase in that sentence above is... medically speaking. Could I ask you to pray for Ethan too?
Also, as I posted here previously, your prayers for David, SCC's road manager, are also requested for the next several weeks for a personal and intense family struggle.
And further,
for prayer requests going forward... lets centralize them. I'm already aware of one place set up for prayer, The SCC Family Blog says it's
for those of us who follow, support, pray for and love the Chapman family and their support team! set up by Cory. I've been lurking Cory : ) and appreciate what you've been doing. There might be others? Could this be a good spot? I'll let you guys decide.
