Next Radio Single Announced

Yours_4th_verse

After much discussion...

Sparrow Records/EMICMG and StevenCurtisChapman.com announce today that the next radio single from Steven's THIS MOMENT album, available to radio for airplay on August 1st, will be "Yours." Additional breaking news! A new version of the song will be released. "Yours" (new verse) includes a new 4th verse that Steven has written since the loss of his daughter Maria in a tragic accident on May 21, 2008.

Steven felt it was important to acknowledge what the family has been going through over these past 8 weeks, and "Yours" has taken on new meaning in recent weeks to many who work alongside Steven. Already a very special song, Steven's reflections since Maria's loss in the 4th verse only make the song even more challenging, compelling, and passionate. Concertgoers this past weekend had a chance to take in the new lyric, and on each of the 3 occasions rose to their feet in a standing ovation as Steven sang the closing line in the new verse.

Here's the new verse lyric...

I’ve walked the valley of death’s shadow
So deep and dark that I could barely breathe
I’ve had to let go of more than I could bear
And questioned everything that I believe
But still even here
in this great darkness
A comfort and hope come breaking through
As I can say in life or death
God we belong to you.

Special thanks to some folks who have dropped everything to help make this new recording happen. The new 4th verse was recorded last night in Nashville with the album's original producer, Matt Bronleewe. (heroic editing, producing, and voice matching 9p - 3a) Also, thanks to Reid Shippen, epic mastering engineer, and Jeremy Camp and Brown Bannister who allowed Reid to stop and do this for Steven in the middle of their deadline packed album schedule. At the label, we're grateful to Grant, Peter, Brad, Leisa, Sly, Jan, Tim, David and David.

(If you're wondering... no final word yet regarding questions on the song's new version being available for purchase.)

Jim,

Amazing. Inspirational. Challenging. Most of us can only aspire to live like this. Thank you for sharing with us again. Thanks to Steven for sharing this God-given gift with us.

May God open countless hearts through Steven!

What a deeply powerful and moving addition!!! Continued prayers...

Lord, please continue to be with this family...

Looking forward to actually hearing the new verse. Thanks for sharing the lyrics with us. They're painfully beautiful.

Looking forward to Friday. Debating on whether to wear eye makeup or not (crying) :p.

Thanks, especially, for providing the pic of the handwritten lyrics. There's just something intimate about that.

My husband and I are hoping to see Steven on Friday and look forward to hearing the 4th verse in person. What powerful words! As always I am still praying for the family, you and all those who love this amazing family.

Wow what God is doing through Steven should not amaze me but indeed I am always impressed with His greatness! What a heartfelt verse to add to an already beautiful song!! I will have to learn that one to sing along with. I so wish we could all just wrap you in all our arms and hold each of you close. Just know we LOVE you all and are hugging you from here and best of all we know The Father has you all close to His heart!! Still praying, and weeping!

For The Family,
Tammy

God is a big God! Very touching words

Honest & True - those words bring life through pain.

I am truly amazed at God's power in Steven's life.

I cried as I read the new verse. Still praying...

the new verse is beautiful and for Steven to share something so deeply connected to his heart is truly a blessing to us all. I look forward to crying with joy at the concert at the Biltmore just knowing that little Maria is with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Remember,"God is God and I am not, I can only see a part of the picture he's painting." The picture God has for the Chapman's is always unfolding and the beauty of it is they are honoring their God by trusting in his will and seeking his council for their future. We can all learn from this family.....I know I have! Thank you for sharing and keeping loyal fans and fellow christians up to date with this family we all wish we were apart of and continue to pray for.

Wow...what an amazing lyric.

I am amazed every day as I read the posts and see the big things that God is doing through Steven.

I really needed this verse last September. I walked through every line of that verse.
:( I also believe the end line of that verse too!

What a wonderful verse, so filled with meaning for all who have walked the valley... we appreciate it very much. Further beauty from ashes...

How amazing! Even in the midst of overwhelming and heart wrenching sadness SCC still gives glory and honor to our God. What a testament to God and the strong faith of SCC. I am moved even more by the incredible faith that SCC and his family share. It has been and will be my privilege to continue to lift them in prayer. I am so very touched that even though I do not know them I can call SCC and family/friends my brothers and sisters because of Jesus. I look forward to his concert in Asheville, NC.
With love,
Holli

Chills & tears. Beautiful!
