Unseen (not really)
I make a career out of being unseen. I'm learning and re-learning each day that it’s foolish to measure our impact by an economy that isn’t built like God’s. I have learned that I am an excellent number 2 or 3 guy and that it’s not about me anyway. That I am not the visionary and I may never be seen, in fact that’s probably the plan. And that God has given me the rare opportunity and the abilities needed by the people I serve, the creative people everyone sees. So now I make a career out of being unseen.
I am just off stage helping the guy on stage make it happen. I am part of a team that is responsible for the album cover I'm not on, those lights I’m not standing under, those speakers not amplifying my voice, the video screen I’m not on, and helped set up that newspaper interview I'm not quoted in. If all goes well, the artist’s creative and ministry hopes for the concert night and album release happen and you never see me. Not only am I not discouraged by that, I thrive on it.
Maybe sometimes you feel unseen and unheard in your job or family or life. Can I encourage you? I know Someone who sees. I think wherever we have the opportunity, God can and will use us… if we let Him, if we trust Him, if we’re listening. I’m trying to trust Him again for that today... and then I’ll do that tomorrow… and then I’ll do that the next day…and the next…

I think I will copy and frame this photo if that is o.k. with you because it is a picture that tells a thousand stories about servanthood, friendship, trust, brotherhood, fellowship, and living life for the sake of the call. A much-needed reminder to me, to us all, that this life we have been given, was meant not to be selfishly hoarded, but freely given away, without thought for that which we may or may not get in return.
Truth hard to swallow sometimes.
Truth that is sure to set us all free.
'Tis simply beautiful.

Thanks for that reminder...I SO understand. It's an honor to know you and a privilege to work alongside you. I'd like to be more like you :) ...you're incredible at what you do! ...you are loved!

All I can say is, even though you're unseen, and thrive to remain unseen all you do is for the glory of our God. Being faithful to what your doing is what makes the "seen" remarkable, you are one of those guys who make things happen.
May our Almighty God bless you always.

I am writing on behalf of my sister who is a long-time, devoted fan of Steven Curtis Chapman. Right now she is going through a very rough time in her life and I wondered if Steven Curtis Chapman ever sends words of encouragement to his fans. It would mean the world to her and perhaps lift her spirits during the tough times ahead. I do not wish to go into details at this point due to the sensitive nature of her circumstances, but I can provide a mailing address if this request is possible.
Thank you.
