I stumbled across this book and album project that both Steven (my boss) and Michael W. Smith were involved in this past year. (I can't believe I'm writing 2009 on stuff now!) Steven seems to be involved in so many things that even I don't know about all of them--until something like this falls into my lap! What a cool project. Martin Smith and his sweet wife had a vision for this...he put together a team (he along with Michael W. Smith, Darlene Zschech, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Tim Hughes, Paul Baloche, Israel Houghton, Graham Kendrick, Steven Curtis Chapman, Andy Park, Stu Garrard) of very talented artists to do this album. All of the proceeds will go to help some of the poorest communities in the world. Check out CompassionArt for more details. Blessings to you for an incredible 2009!!!
Please no more posts asking SCC to pick up a phone and call the Travoltas.
Having lost a child and being famous is no different than being a nobody and losing a child. Let's move on.

Dear Jen, I agreed there are many lost and suffering folks out there. No it is not b/c he is famous... it due to the fact he is lost (if he does not have Christ) thus going to hell. SCC can understand what is is to be "famous" and to have suffered the loss of a child.
The scripture is clear... that we are to give the same comfort to others that we ourselves have been given.
Be blessed!!!

Grace, did one of the Chapman kids get baptized this weekend? If that's the case, congratulations to them! :)

Hi Grace,
I volunteer with Gospel for Asia (www.gfa.org) and am putting a 3min video promo for a fundraiser together. Can I get permission to use SCC's song "The Journey" in the video? Happy to place credits in the video for Steven ...
Blessings,
Peter

There are plenty of lost people suffering tremendous heartache in this world. Why focus on the Travoltas? Because they are rich and famous according to Hollywood? So they should get special treatment from SCC? Can't we as a society try to treat everyone the same regardless if they starred in "Welcome Back Kotter" or movies like "Urban Cowboy" 30 years ago?

GREAT!!
This is just a thought/question. I have been heart sick over the death of Jett Travolta. Praying for the family a-lot. Has SCC thought about "reaching" out to them? I am just sick over their LOSTNESS to this world and to the world system.
Be blessed!!

I noticed I didn't put Maria into the Heaven comment. I just said "she." "She" meant Maria, sorry!

Hannah, it was an amazing concert! :) My daughter was jealous because she wasn't here to go, and I went with a girlfriend of mine and her daughter. Up until recent months, I didn't know the Jonas Brothers from the Baldwin Brothers. ;) That wasn't all that Steven was on stage for; he even sang Cinderella with the guys. He said that he couldn't wait to get to Heaven so that he'd be able to ask if she saw him sing with the Jonas Brothers. :)
Word of warning to you 40 somethings out there, don't attend a Jonas Brothers concert without earplugs, because the Ryman was going nuts!

I help with a local homeless shelter...where every meal is a gift...a warm bed unexpected but so appreciated.........so easy to take even the basics of food for granted.
Excited for this project and plan to share it with the staff at Wellspring House in Gloucester MA.
Thanks and God bless this project!
